My name is Timmy.

I’m a creative in Dallas, Texas that loves lots and lots of stuff. Generally speaking I love my wife, my child, Jesus Christ, my family, tv and movies, video games, comics, creativity, the process of creativity, animation, design… Yadda, yadda, yadda…

The short and sweet about me.

After graduating High School in ’01 my brother and I started a band called Weapon of Choice which shortly after turned into Embrace the Eternal. We were a hardcore/metal band right before it became cool. We were so cool in fact, that just as Underoath (and bands like them at the time) was starting the screamo genre adding beautiful vocals to intense screams surrounded in synth notes and digital breakdowns, we were right there with them. We even took it a step further and added a DJ that would (much like Incubus) would scratch prerecorded vocals into the mix. It was amazing. It was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. There was nothing like writing music, playing the music, and seeing people respond and go nuts. Especially when a breakdown would hit. Man I miss it. Hey, lets start a band!

Shortly after the dream of being a rockstar ended I went off to Full Sail University where I graduated in ’07 with a Bachelors in Digital Arts, mostly focusing on web design while Flash was still “cool”. Worked at a studio for the next year or so in Orlando called Purple, Rock, Scissors where I did flash design and a little bit of broadcast motion. The iPhone came out and all of flash became something terrible to the rest of the world, so I changed focuses to 100% motion design. After my time there I left Orlando and went back home to South Florida and had a few jobs but mostly freelanced for a year or so. Started working with Ryan Connolly and helped him start Film Riot. In 2010 I took a job at a “giga-church” called Christ Fellowship where I was the “creative specialist” and helped build and lead a team of creatives building content for our weekly services. In 2013 my wife and I left Florida and headed to Dallas to take a new job at RT Creative Group building generic content for churches all over the world. All the while keeping a full time freelance schedule and building up capa.

If you’ve followed me on twitter for any period of time you’ll notice that one of my biggest passions is video games. I’ve been playing video games as early as I could understand them and had the coordination to play. I was born in 1982, so by the time the NES came out and my aunt bought it for us, I was ready to dive in. But i remember the “aah-ha” moment for me was when my older brother bought a Sega Genesis and Sonic. Of course I was grounded for some reason most likely tied to my hyperactivity and inability to sit still or be quiet for 3 minutes at a time. But my dad was kind and let me play for 10 minutes when my brother first turned it on. The way it felt, looked, and sounded was amazing. The speed and the platforming had me so hooked. I remember sitting there for hours watching my brother play, so excited for my 2 week grounding to be over. That’s when the passion for video games first started.

About the site.

I’m still trying to figure out what this site will be about, but I think that’s what I’m going to love about doing this. I don’t anticipate getting tens of followers let alone hundreds or thousands. I’m just going to use this as a place to get thoughts inside my head out of my head and into someplace that I can go back to and reread and rethink. If in the procss of that someone happens to stumble across these thoughts and it helps, or starts conversation, or somehow influences someone to do something, than that’ll be extra. And awesome.

So poke around, read something. Ask questions or point stuff out. Get involved. Lets talk. Here’s to the adventure.
